Job Description

We encourage highly trained psychotherapists to apply for the position of Dialectical Behavior Therapist. The ideal candidate will have a passion for delivering adherent, evidence-based treatments to a range of client populations including children, adolescents, adults, and families. The prospective clinician should have a demonstrated professional history of utilizing dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and/or cognitive behavioral therapies.

The ideal candidate will be prepared to join our Dialectical Behavior Therapy consultation team, committed to the delivery of comprehensive DBT for adolescents including individual psychotherapy, DBT skills training, team consultation, environmental case management, and 24/7 phone consultation services.

Responsibilities and Duties

The Dialectical Behavior Therapist will be responsible for:

Conducting high quality biopsychosocial assessments for client diagnostic clarification. 

Timely clinical documentation of all professional contact with clients within our HIPAA-compliant health care database.

Treatment planning informed by evidence-based practices.

Accurate timekeeping as it relates to billable hours and nonclinical activities (e.g. Notes, documentation, case management services). 

Case management for clients as needed, including the facilitation of referrals for ancillary providers and overall coordination of care.

Co-leading Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills Groups for Adolescents and Families during one evening per week.

Participating in EMH’s weekly DBT consultation team (Tuesdays from 12PM-1PM).

Prioritizing in-person therapy sessions with clients.

Utilizing a telebehavioral health delivery service format in addition to offering in-person sessions (per the clinician’s comfort level and discretion). 

Willingness to treat a predominantly child and adolescent client population, with the intention of expanding to adult-focused treatment options.

Experience

Previous experience delivering dialectical behavior therapy to a client population with pervasive emotion dysregulation. The clinician should have competence in the implementation of cognitive behavioral therapies.

At least 5 years of post-masters clinical experience in the mental health field is required.

Qualifications

Full clinical licensure in the state of Maryland to practice psychotherapy. Examples of acceptable clinical licensure: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), PhD, Psy.D.

The DBT therapist should have completed intensive DBT training through Behavioral Tech, with evidence of attendance.

Candidates who have not completed an intensive (5-day foundational training through Behavioral Tech or other gold-standard training opportunities) will be required to do so prior to joining our consultation team.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience delivering cognitive behavioral therapies to client populations. Examples could include: Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Adolescents and Families (DBT), Parent Management Training (PMT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT).

Additional Credentials and Certifications: DBT-Linehan Board of Certification Certified Clinician; Beck Institute Certified Clinician; Nationally Certified in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) certification through PCIT International
Experience providing evidence-based treatment to populations with pervasive emotion dysregulation.
